“The grasslands of southern Arizona are quiet and remote locations, yet humanity is present here, both visibly and invisibly. Human settlement has had a great impact on this varied ecosystem, and restoration efforts are underway by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to control introduced, invasive species and to revegetate the grasslands to their pre-ranching states. With this work, I am considering these efforts of conservation, the effect of the human footprint on a landscape, as well as the identity of the land itself.” -BMJ
